Are we letting our children have a childhood? | WOW Parenting

Are we letting our children have a childhood?

Children are children, and they should have the opportunity to play, grow, and develop like children do.

They’re not hard-wired to be focused on success all the time. If that is what you are doing as a parent, then yes, you are not letting your child have a childhood.

If they are all the time running from one class to the other, then yes, you are not letting your child have a childhood.

If you are not able to hear their laughter often, then yes, you are not letting your child have a childhood.

If they do not play outside and are employed by their personal technology, yes yes, you are not letting your child have a childhood.

A quote from Thomas Jefferson is instructive here: “We will be soldiers, so our sons may be farmers, so their sons may be artists.”

We know for sure, you as parents, don’t want your kids to face the same challenges you faced. We are also pretty certain, you certainly don’t want them to face their own challenges at too young an age.

We cannot force a flower to blossom earlier. Don’t force your kids to grow up fast too.

A fruit plucked before time, never tastes good. So will be life for your children.

Allow them time. Allow them to have a childhood. Aren’t there times, when you crave for your childhood back? Or, don’t you wistfully remember your childhood for the carefree times that you had. Allow your children the same.

Childhood is when the roots grow strong. Adulthood is when the tree gives fruits.

Allow the children to have stronger roots by living their childhood as a child.
