Girls and Leadership In Action.
I had just completed a seminar of “Leadership In Action”. A group of four girls, Archana, Sanjeevani, Gayatri and Kavita came to me and said, “We understood every word that you said. We have understood HOW to be a leader.Yet, why is that we believe, we CANNOT be leaders?”
I just smiled at them and said, “I have got to go now. Why don’t we meet some time next week?” They demurely agreed. It’s over 4 months now. They haven’t contacted me yet. I am not surprised.
What do you think, is the reason for them not to contact me?
I believe, it is because in their childhood they were nurtured to FOLLOW. They were encouraged to do things without analysing the why’s and the what’s. They were never encouraged to be leaders. In fact, they were told 100s of times, they CANNOT be a leader. They were told 100s of times, leadership is not for them and they are not cut out for it.
Raise a child who is not afraid to be a leader. Raise a child who is not desperate to lead but who believes they CAN lead. Raise a child who believes, when necessary, they WILL lead.
