How would I know why my child is acting stubborn? Am I, as a parent, directly or indirectly responsible? Or is the environment around him responsible? Well, there can be some other reasons for it as well!

• When parents try to control or deny access to their favourite shows on TV, the children feel bad. Thus, they act stubborn.
• A child having siblings may feel neglected or jealous, at times, when the parent gives more attention to the other child. Thus, to attract attention, the child may act stubborn. But, how do I figure out the real reason?

As a parent, my top concern is whether the stubborn behaviour in my child leads to aggression. How do I fix my child’s stubbornness before it becomes a massive issue for me, my family, and society? Recently when I was in the shopping mall, my child started demanding for a Superman toy. When I denied, he started screaming and rolling on the floor. I was embarrassed to the core but was helpless. Is there any way I can create a roadblock to this behaviour of my child before it is too late?

Apart from all the negative traits, usually stubborn children have, here are some positive qualities of a stubborn kid which can’t be neglected.

• Stubborn children are extremely independent. They will not take things for granted unless convinced.
• Stubborn children are intelligent and creative. They will do things his own way.
• These kids extremely focused on whatever they work and they want to be acknowledged often.
• They will do everything at their own pace. They are never bothered by what others are doing.
